Impact of Information Technology on Organizational Strategic Variables: A Study in Hospitality Industry in Antalya and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus

The role and impact of information technology (IT) on today's organizations have significantly changed over the last decade. It is clear that even though IT has evolved from its traditional to more strategic role within an organization, there is a glaring lack of fundamental frameworks within which to understand the potential of IT for tomorrow's organizations. The impact of IT does not include rigorous theory building empirical studies. This research presents a comprehensive model for understanding the potential impact of IT on organizational strategic variables. This study is based on perceptions of sample of 50 top managers in hospitality industry of Antalya and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). In this empirical study, the impact of IT on organizational strategic variables has been determined. In addition, this article analyzed the relationship between IT investments and productivity. On the other hand, we tried out to find out if the perceptions of the top management in Antalya and TRNC differ for the role and impact of IT.
